The Amelia Island Plantation tennis program has been recognized as one of the finest resort tennis programs in the world, offering a variety of tournaments and facilities that cater to the whole family and every level of play. With 23 Har-Tru® fast-dry clay courts shaded beneath majestic live oaks in a beautiful Florida tennis setting, guests can enjoy day or night play. Our teaching pros provide excellent individual tennis or group instruction, and utilize ball machines that provide topspin lobs to shots down the center line.

Racquet Park

Racquet Park at Amelia Island Plantation...the name itself creates the sense of beauty and excitement that is a part of its history. Since its grand opening in 1974, Racquet Park has hosted some of the greatest names in tennis history. Navratilova, Evert, Graf, Hingis, Seles, Sampras, Connors and Agassi are among the legends that have graced its famed center court, home to the Bausch & Lomb or WTA Championships for 29 years.

Meet the Pros...

Tracy Smythe- USPTA certified
After completing her internship with Amelia Island Plantation in 1991, Tracy Smythe graduated from the University of Tennessee and joined the tennis professional staff as a manager, buyer and assistant tennis professional. Tracy returned to her native home of Knoxville in 1996 where she designed and implemented the Junior Development Program at the Knoxville Racquet Club. Tracy also was the head tennis coach at the Webb School of Knoxville, and in 1997 she was named the KIL Boys’ Head Coach of the Year and in 1998, the Girls’ Head Coach of the year. Tracy returned to Amelia Island Plantation in 1999 as Head Tennis Pro. In 2001, she also took on the responsibilities of the Director of Tennis. Tracy has been a member of the USPTA since 1991.

Rod Gibson - USPTA Certified
Rod Gibson has been a member of the Amelia Island Plantation tennis staff since 2001. Rod enjoys working with players of all ages and skill levels who are interested in improving their game while having a great time. Rod began his teaching career with the Nike Tennis Camps at Slippery Rock University, and later at the Edgeworth Country Club in 1999. During his time at Edgeworth, Rod was head of the Junior Tennis Team as well as overall junior development. Rod attended Virginia Wesleyan College, in Norfolk, where he completed his Bachelors Degree in 2003 with majors in History and Criminal Justice. While at VWC, Rod was twice a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All Conference Tennis Team.
